Tale Of Us Do It Again...

Definitely up there as one of my favourite production outfits at the moment, Italian duo Tale Of Us (Karm & Matteo Milleri) have dropped another bomb with this excellent remix of Dj T's track Sense (ft. James Teej).

My New York friend Emilano and I have been obessessing about the track since we heard it at the Visionquest party in Miami.

In fact, you can see me acting the fool to it in Emi's video below.

The description on the YouTube video is absolutely perfect.

"Newcomers Tale Of Us continue their journey into dark minimalism, with a remix that isolates the percussion and vocals, shrouding both in reverb for maximum atmospheric effect. A sense of unease pervades through the saturated bassline and slow delayed handclaps, creating frosty mists and dark corners within the synth-tech house arrangement."

They put it a damn sight better than I ever could.

SICK track, these guys are on fire at the moment. (See!)

Ibiza Changed My Life, Miami Reaffirmed It...

After all the anticipation, the build-up, the waiting - Miami came and went in a flash. I seriously cannot believe a week went that quickly.

But what a week it was.

When you have your heart set on something special, occasionally you get let down - what we call an anti-climax.

And, due to the fact that WMC and Ultra had split this year, there was potential for an anti-climax I guess.

Miami was nothing of the sort though. It was everything I wished for and more.

I'm not going to go into huge detail about the whole trip because I like my blog posts to be quite brief (plus I'm writing a 700-word report on it for Notion Magazine), but what I will do is list some of the highlights...

1) First ever pool party: My friend Tristan and I walk into DJ Mag's Recession Session party at the Shelborne open-mouthed at the sight before us. A pool lined with hot women (and men) getting down to some fresh jams while the Miami sun beats down on them... Dennis Ferrer, Lee Foss, James Zabiela, A-Trak and more smashed the place to bits. Had a great time.

2) Smog VS Basshead: Dubstep and drum n bass are HUGE in America and this party was a testament to that. The place was HEAVING with people, over 2,000 in fact. We had VIP thanks to Skream, so we spent most of the night on stage in front of the DJ booth sweating our guts out and raving hard.

3) Meeting Seth Troxler:
I finally met one of my heroes at the Visionquest party held at Shelborne's brilliant pool... I didn't say much, but it was a great moment, which led into..

4) Visionquest's pool party: Every act I love was on at this party, Benoit & Sergio, Tale Of Us, Footprintz, Guy Gerber and of course the Visionquest guys themselves. Had such a fun time at this party, great people, great music. Perfect.

5) Sunday School - The Lost Weekend: I was told to go here by a friend and it didn't disappoint. We arrived at the party at 3pm on Sunday, by which time it had already been going for 17 hours. Madness ensued, caught Seth and Guy Gerber again... while Stimming and Heidi got themselves on my favourites list with brilliant performances.

Here's a snippet from Seth's set.

And this gives you a good idea of how the Terrace/outside area looked.

So, all in all a great week... looking forward to getting over there again next year. Met some really cool people, sadly most of whom I didn't even get contact details for.

Still, I have my memories at least.

The Vision...

I'm not sure what's wrong with the computer I'm using but everytime I embed a load of YouTube vids it reloads the page.

Anyway, because I can't be bothered to type everything out again.

Here's a couple of reasons why I want to see Visionquest (Seth Troxler, Ryan Crosson Lee Curtiss and Shaun Reeves) in action.

Mixing the old with the new, classics with future classics, seamlessly... already legendary in my opinion.

Bring on Visionquest & Friends in Miami.

Boxed In Day...

I'm at work, on BOXING DAY. Help!!

Thankfully, I've been privy to a few aural delights to keep me going and help me through to the end of the day (which is almost upon me now).

What follows is a selection of the tunes that were the soundtrack to this painful day.

Ian Pooley - The Dark White (Juno Mix)

Lady Spirit - Sugar Free

Wiz Khalifa - Black And Yellow

Horsepower Productions - Damn It (Extended LP Version)

Jim Jones (ft. Trey Songz) - Summer Wit Miami

Skepta - Frisco
