Happy Monday...

Yeah right, no such thing as a happy Monday unless you're happily unemployed and able to do whatever you want.

Anyway, this mix below by Catz 'N Dogz from Poland has made Monday morning a lot more bearable.

Cheers DJ Mag.

1995...

1995 was a massive year in my life, I made a lot of discoveries, travelled around my city (London) - went on mad little teenage adventures with my friends all summer long and generally had a really good time.

I may have already mentioned this somewhere on my blog, but '95 was a real special time. Summer seemed to last forever that year.

Tunes like this were blasting out of car stereos everywhere you went.

Still gives me the shivers.

And Far Away is where I want to be most of the time too.

Sorry...

Another Seth post... but I've already stuck the Steve Bug mix up from this night and I'm doing this one not because of Seth Troxler, but just because I want to convey what a mad night Mulletover's Halloween bash was.

Seriously, SERIOUSLY wish I went. ARGH!

Benoit And Sergio...

Love these two - already posted a link to their wicked tune Walk & Talk being played by the Visionquest guys at their gig at Mint up in Leeds last year (the tune is the first release on the Visionquest label).

They've got a mix up on XLR8R for their podcast - it's brilliant, a proper little mix of their influences rather than an exclusive selection of test pressings and dub plates. It's rocking my Wednesday morning so far.

Gimme Da Nite...

I'm not all about one kind of music - my current obsession is techno, but I like to get down to some old classics as well.

Happy funky tunes. Timeless songs that make you wanna dance with someone special all night long.

This is a T.U.N.E.

Nothing But Love For YouTube...

Obvious title seeing as 99.9% of the music I post here is taken from YouTube, but I thought I should show some love to the website as it is a crucial part of my life and which I guess is the same for many a like-minded music lover too.

The amount of stuff you can find on there is beyond anything I ever thought imaginable and I guess that's down to the people who kindly take the time to upload those rare and hard-to-find releases that often disappear into obscurity.

I just love the fact that, using a bit of research, you can find almost anything you want on there.

Below are three of the gems I found recently (none of them are rare or hard-to-find, but they're gems nonetheless).

Absolutely LOVE this first one. I need to hear it played out!!!!! I NEED IT.

Freaks - Where Were You When The Lights Went Out?

Jessie J...

Last night I saw Jessie J for the third time.

If you don't know who she is, then you must have been living under a rock for the past couple of months. She's literally EVERYWHERE at the moment, which is a little annoying - in recent years the music industry seems intent on hyping up artists to a ridiculous degree... so much so that people get bored of them very quickly and they burn out.

Anyway that's not her fault and, regardless of the overkill at the moment, she's still a remarkable talent. And she is hilarious when she's talking in between songs... very candid and 'real', for want of a better term. She makes Leona Lewis look like, well... Leona Lewis.

She killed the Scala last night - my personal standout moment was her acoustic performance of Big White Room, which was recorded live for her album.

It really did give me goosebumps. What a voice.
Check it out below.

Bugging... Bugging Me...

I wanted to go to Mulletover last October, Halloween special - when I was first really getting back into techno and stuff. Only because Seth Troxler was on (yeah I'm a fanboy, WHAT!) ...

Anyway, I missed it - but, since then the name Steve Bug has been on my radar - a very knowledgable friend mentioned him to me and I'd seen the name pop up as the creator of a really good tune on one of Seth's mixes...

Yeah I'm late, but then it's never too late to pick up on good music and good musicians.

So, inevtibly, I downloaded his mix from Mulletover off Soundcloud. Put it on last night and lost my mind.

Here it is below. WOW. Wishing I was there at last year's Mulletover even more now.

When I'm Cleaning Windaz...

Another short post... will be back in with a longer soon, promise.

Ed Rush & Optical beat my head into a pulp when they were smashing out tunes like this.

Wishing...

I'm wishing my life away again watching this video.

Take me back there, for one night only, and I'll die a happy(er) man.

Classics...

I blame tunes like the ones below for my undying love for electronic music - it was the mid-90s (1994/1995) when Kool FM and tape packs from raves impregnated my mind with the addiction.

Sometimes I listen to so much new stuff that I forget the old. But when I go back in, it's like living the tunes for first time all over again.

2011...

Hello. It's a new year, everything's going to be different isn't it?

Not quite.

I caught Damian Lazarus, Roska, Make Me, Joker (who played for like 10 minutes?!?!?) and Seth Troxler (swoon) at Eastern Electrics' massive NYE party in the tunnels at London Bridge last night... I was Joe Mangled, it was brilliant.

This went down absolutely LARGE.
